CBA1 Partnerships
With today’s religious community experiencing declining membership and decreased levels of giving and tithing, there is an ever-growing need for professionally trained and educated staff, ministers, and business managers to support today’s ministries. What many pastors and church officials have realized is that the “traditional methods” of retaining full/part-time staffed support is often beyond their ministry’s budgets.
The Church Business Administration Network is a team of ministry-based consultants who make it affordable and practical for religious organizations of all sizes and locations to afford professional ministry leadership. CBA1 training and resources are currently being provided, accessed, and utilized by religious organizations across the country to include small rural churches, large urban ministries, Ministers’ Conferences, Sunday School Unions, Bible colleges, Seminaries, and Denominational Conventions.
To meet the increasing demand for ministry training, CBA1 maintains a network of six (6) ministry consulting teams of at least three (3), but not more than five (5) ministry consultants on each team who provide training services to the religious community:
1. The Pastoral/Clergy Development Team
- Associate Minister Training
- Ministers’ Licensing Training
- Ministers’ Ordination Training
- Pastoral (New Pastor/Assignment) Training
- Pastoral (Preparing for a Transition) Training
2. Christian Nurture & Education Team

- Evangelism & Outreach (Post-Pandemic)

*Ministry-Based Consulting Training is available, but not required for self-employed, ministry consultants desiring to serve as a ministry consultant in one or more of the above areas.
Ministry Consultants partnering with The Church Business Administration Network are…
1. Are Self-Employed, Business Owners with a valid business license permitting the consultant to “do business” and provide their ministry in the church. Much like a legal, CPA, or HVAC company that provides services to churches as a part of its “business”, the ministry consultant is likewise a self-employed, business owner with the exception that our “business” is “ministry” and “leadership training” within the religious community.
2. Are 1099 Classification for Tax Purposes: As self-employed business owners, ministry consultants assume the burden of filing our own taxes as self-employed, 1099 business owners. This means that the ministry consultant is responsible for reporting all income received for services provided as a part of your ministry consulting “business”.
3. Own Their Virtual Training Space: As a self-employed business owner, ministry consultants are responsible for maintaining their own “space” for training (i.e. Zoom, Google Meet, etc.). “Partnering” Ministry Consultants post their training sessions on CBA1’s virtual campus, but maintain and provide access credentials to CBA1 as a partnering Ministry Consultant.
4. Consulting/Training Fees: Self-employed, ministry consultants set and determine their own consulting fees and rates. While the temptation is to charge large fees for individual services, “good business principles” remind us that “rates impact our customer base” as ministry consulting rates are very competitive. Additionally, Ministry Consultants maintain their own e-commerce, electronic giving platforms allowing them to receive fees and “donations” as a part of their consulting business.
Ministry Consultants who partner with and serve as a part of The Church Business Administration Network are required to sign a written CBA1 Consulting Partnership Agreement with Dr. William H. Whitaker, II. Unless otherwise specified in writing, all information provided on the https://cba1.org website is the copywritten by and the sole intellectual property of Dr. William H.
