About CBA1: The Church Business Administration Network
CBA1: The Church Business Administration Network is a ministry-based consulting firm envisioned and founded by Dr. William H. Whitaker, II in 2002. Located in Richmond, Virginia, for more than 20 years, CBA1: The Church Business Administration Network has provided quality ministry service and professional, seminary-level training to churches and religious organizations of all sizes.
CBA1’s virtual platform (previously called on-line, distance learning) was initially presented in 2007 for Dr. Whitaker’s Church Business Administration class at the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia. In 2007, most seminaries had not embraced “distance learning” and the evolution of “free” social media livestreaming would not begin until eight (8) years later in 2015, Dr. Whitaker asked his wife, Maria if he could use their personal money to reserve time in a local, video and recording studio at the cost of $400 per 30-minute lecture.
Dr. Whitaker’s initial, 2007 lecture series was recorded and entitled “On Trial in the Church”, a title which would later become the name of the CBA1 newsletter. The first series of On Trial in the Church lectures included eight (8) 30-minute lectures on Church Business Administration, Church Finance, Church Organizational Models, and Church Trusteeship.
Today, CBA1: The Church Business Administration Network is leaving an indelible footprint of ministry support, services, training, and resources. Under Dr. Whitaker’s visionary leadership, CBA1 continues to provide leadership development, ministry support, and resources for all areas of the religious community. From the small churches in rural counties to the mega-size ministries in urban cities, from Sunday School Unions and Ministers Conferences to state conventions, Bible colleges, and seminaries, CBA1: The Church Business Administration Network of ministry consultants is seeking to strengthen and empower today’s Church to reach and evangelize lost souls for Christ.
